Hi, I'm Rachel McGuinness
Up until 2004 I worked in marketing and events in the telecoms industry. Since then I’ve been helping busy people to get healthy and reclaim their energy, so they can get back on their game in a more sustainable way.
My recommendations are based on what I have experienced myself. In the year 2000 I realised that my busy corporate life had caused me to become so unhealthy that I was heading for burnout and some serious health issues if I didn’t stop my self-destructive lifestyle.
This is how I used to look and how I look now
I decided to completely change how I lived my life. I got into a proper sleep routine, adopted a cleaner approach to eating, got a handle on my stress levels and added regular exercise to my daily habits. Now I am just over 3 stone (20kg lighter) and four dress sizes smaller. But, even more importantly than that, I’m fit and have more energy than I had as a teenager! I like to think that I’m unrecognisable compared to my former self.
The wellbeing industry (especially since the start of the pandemic) tends to attract a lot of 'self-professed experts' who are sadly neither trained nor experienced.
I, however, am trained in cognitive behaviour therapy for insomnia, mental health first aid, nutrition, personal fitness training, stress management, neuro-linguistic programming and hypnotherapy.
These qualifications combined with the 17 years of experience provides clients with the reassurance that they're in safe hands.
Hi I'm Paula Gardner
I’m a business psychologist from Scarlet Thinking and career coach, with a background of running my own PR agency for over 15 years.
Even as a teenager I was fascinated by psychology and personality. I would devour books on intelligence, extroversion and introversion and make up Cosmo type quizzes to test my friends. Even though my path initially led to journalism and then PR, I eventually found my way back to psychology.
I decided to specialise in business psychology and career coaching. We spend so much of our lives at work that it’s hugely important that we don’t settle for something that just pays the bills and allows us to survive. Much of our identity can be tied up in what we do, so let’s make sure we are doing something that fulfils us, even if it isn’t always easy.
I’ve had a great career: starting off with a local government magazine, moving into music PR and accounts like George Michael and Bananarama. I then started my own restaurant PR company. moving into coaching and consulting with business owners and CEOs. However, psychology, career coaching and psychometrics is the most rewarding and fascinating part of my career to date. I hope that I get a chance to share my passion with you.
Hi, I'm Tracey Timm
I started my career in the PA, Secretarial and Administration world and added Marketing to my armour around 7 years ago. After working as a Marketing Manager in a Manufacturing company for many years, in December 2019, I started my business, Your Admin Department, to offer outsourced marketing, PA and admin support to busy business owners who are looking to free up their time to focus on growing their businesses.
In my spare time, I continue to keep up with the latest developments in Digital Marketing, Traditional Marketing and Social Media to always be at the forefront of the latest trends. I completed my Professional Diploma in Marketing through the Chartered Institute of Marketing in 2020.
Away from work, I love to keep fit and healthy by running and taking yoga classes. I also enjoy cooking, baking, reading, watching films and socialising whilst trying out afternoon tea venues! I have a keen interest in wellbeing and truly believe in everything that Wake Up With Zest stands for so working with Rachel is a dream come true for me.
Hi, I’m Nigel Lowson
Having experienced the effects of sustained stress upon my body and mind and seen its effects in so many people, I am passionate about helping to reduce stress and increase calm in people’s lives.
As a long time meditator and practitioner of mindfulness I find their value to me and others huge. I teach meditation to both individuals and groups face-to-face and online.
In addition, I have led evening, day and weekend retreats as well as many, many sessions more tightly focused on reducing stress. My aim is always to offer practical advice to all in an appropriate, accessible, enjoyable, and discursive manner.
I also enjoy working with adults as well as youngsters (and their parents of course) offering advice on the basics of sleep, sleep hygiene, sleep and diet, sleep and exercise, sleep and stress, bedtime routines, and developing successful visualisations to help people enjoy better sleep.
Sleep and stress are linked closely so for me to work with Rachel is a joy.
